The Construction QA/QC Manager position is a primary role where an individual is directly responsible for the implementation and management of applicable quality control plan(s) as directed by the General Manager on a company-wide, division-wide or project-wide basis, to assure work performed by Suffolk Construction and its subcontractors is performed in compliance with applicable specifications, plans and governmental requirements from project commencement through close out (and commissioning, if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the Corporate Quality Management Program across all areas of the business and ensure compliance.
• Expand and Develop standard operating procedures and processes to achieve the highest levels of quality associated with delivering a completed construction project.
• Assist with the creation of project specific Quality Management Plans and verify implementation of plan for each project.
• Assist with the development of Quality metrics that empower teams to review information on quality execution; work cross-functionally with operations to address any trends.
• Manage a team of Quality Managers and/or professionals to execute the administrative tasks related to reporting site evaluations, quality reporting requirements, and site specific quality planning.
• Conduct random site evaluations, including follow-up evaluations to ensure corrections have been made to deficiencies.
• Create mechanisms for sharing best practices and quality issues across project teams and among all quality personnel.
• Act as a resource for field operations with compliance on Federal and State regulatory requirements as well as local quality regulations including: ADA, ASHE, NFPA, UL, ASTM, and FBC.
• Develop and update comprehensive training curriculum for all field operations, Quality Department Staff, and Subcontractors.
• Stay abreast of trends and evolving best practices by participating in organizations and forums dedicated to Quality. Keep the Company informed of the latest updates on best practices and standards.
• Represent Suffolk with Owners, Architects, Consultants, Government Authorities, Vendors and Subcontractors.
• Build effective working relationships with clients, trade partners, and the Suffolk project team members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Quality Management or demonstrated equivalent field.
• 5 plus years of experience in related construction fields.
• Solid understanding of means and methods of construction
• Proficient with computer software used in the construction industry
• Working knowledge of national and State code and quality regulations/standards.

Essential Qualifications:

• One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)

The AIS Infrastructure Group consists of four heavy civil construction companies. Our services include infrastructure improvement, heavy civil construction, and site development for government and state agencies and private enterprise across the United States. We do a wide variety of heavy civil projects, including highways, bridges, and DOT work, power plants, dams and reservoirs, underground utilities, and more.

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY

The Regional Construction Manager (Southeast) is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of heavy civil construction and industrial services projects. Plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of projects, adhering to safety standards and protocols set by AIS Infrastructure. Experience as a Project Manager over multiple projects at a time is very crucial, but General Superintendent experience is just as crucial. We need someone with a vast majority of their experience in heavy civil construction, preferably with diverse projects such as mass grading and excavation, highway and DOT work, dams and reservoirs, bridges, underground infrastructure and utilities, power plants, etc.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinate and manage all heavy civil construction activities from planning to completion.
• Oversee and ensure the adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Supervise and lead a team of construction professionals and contractors.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project specifications are met.
• Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Experience as a General Superintendent for large heavy civil construction projects.

• Valid construction-related certifications or licenses (e.g., PMP, CCM, LEED) preferred.

TRAVEL

• Frequent travel throughout the Southeast and potentially other regions of the United States is required. This position will require being on the road a significant amount of time throughout the year.

•Respond to incidents and accidents providing emergency aid support as needed and ensuring that all unsafe acts or conditions have been corrected to eliminate any further incidents or accidents.
•Assist in issuing and inspecting personal protection equipment (PPE).
•Assist in performing investigations on safety incidents or accidents.

Required Qualifications:

•Holds certification (training) in one or all of the following: OSHA 10, OSHA 30 , OSHA, confined space (competent person), excavation (competent person), NCCER Field Safety, NCCER Safety Technology, and/or BCSP’s certification.

• Requires 1+ year of safety experience
•Must have High School Diploma
•Must have at least 1 year experience working as a safety facilitator or equivalent position OR worked in a supervisory field position and able to illustrate the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties.
•Must have working knowledge of OSHA requirements and how to apply them to construction work. Must also be capable of learning and applying company and site safety rules to the work being performed.
•Must be able to read and properly interpret complex documents to include but not limited to company safety policies, client safety documents, and documents explaining government requirements (OSHA/MSHA).
•Must have good leadership’s skills and have the ability to work under difficult situations. This includes influencing others and dealing with conflict.
•Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
•Must be able to use problem solving skills and critical thinking to resolve and identify issues, including safety risks.
•Must be able to perform basic functions on a computer to include but not limited to word processing and working with spreadsheets.
•Must be willing to follow all company directives and safety procedures.
•Must be able to work at heights.
•Must have reliable transportation.

•Current Zachry or Zachry ROF’ed employee.

•Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
•Experience working as a craft worker and/or craft supervisor on an industrial construction project.

Physical Requirements
•Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.

•Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull: objects, materials, controls and tools.
•May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
•Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, work off of platforms and man lifts, and may occasionally work out on an open structure using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
