Position Overview:

The Insulation Metal Mechanic will be working mostly outdoors in industrial construction environments, performing a variety of tasks depending on the needs of the job scope. The Insulation Metal Mechanic will be expected to work with various metals to fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products. This involves tasks like measuring, cutting, bending, welding, and soldering metal sheets to create structures, components, or systems.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products.
• Use hand tools safely.
• Weld various metals using electric, gas, arc, etc.
• Inspect angles, gap allowances, and use precision measuring instruments.
• Use a grinder, hand file, or other tools to remove rough spots from work piece.
• Cut materials using tools to size to ensure adequate fit and quality of welds.
• Completion of various other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

• Has knowledge of various types of metal applications.
• Ability to operate scissor & boom lifts.
• Gather correct tools needed to perform the applications.
• Strong math skills in relation to basic, algebra, and geometry.
• Able to complete layouts for assortment of applications such as elbows, 45's, 90's, gores, heads, T's, tanks, vessels, and cones.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Contract Administration

• Know the prime contract and ensure all internal and external reporting obligations and deliverables are identified and complied with.
• Must be able to develop and deliver a quarterly business performance review, including safety stats, trends of performance, key strategies for improvement, ensuring alignment with customer needs.
• Setup and manage document control system including drawings and specifications, submittals, RFIs, correspondence, meeting notes, etc. Coordinate with ATS to establish project UFS folders and access rights.
• Supports the development of an annual site strategic plan for assigned business.
• Manages a site scorecard of key performance indicators and reporting to deliver operational excellence, trending results on a weekly/monthly basis.
• Manage cost budget within markup components.
• Holds customers, subcontractors, and vendors accountable to the performance of agreements.
• Manage timely billing and receivables performance.

Cost and Productivity Management

• Performs monthly financial reviews and takes corrective actions to bring productivity and cost performance within expectations.
• Analyze budget and quantity updates for job cost reporting.
• Perform data analysis to measure productivity of the work process. Internal and external report development including communication to customer on strategies for improvement.
• Responsible for the reporting of AIMS dashboard data to customer and ensure internal continuous improvement targets are established and achieved.
• Ensure daily time and required reporting are completed timely and accurately.
• Execute the weekly maintenance schedule by delegating work to front line supervisors.
• Ensure site supervision has the opportunity to review scheduled work prior to execution. Supervise high risk jobs to ensure proper skill sets, safety equipment, PPE, and process are utilized.
• Manage the efficient use of the Austin equipment, vehicles, and tools.

Scheduling

• Perform work force planning and scheduling to support maintenance work schedule.
• Internal and external schedule updating and reporting.
• Manage manpower levels required to execute schedule work. Schedule and coordinate all resources as needed to meet execution requirements.
• Participate in weekly schedule reviews prior to the finalization of the upcoming week’s schedule.
• Review “Look Ahead” schedules and schedule updates.

Quality

• Ensure work is in compliance with all applicable quality requirements.
• Ensure timely inspection of work in progress to ensure that work put in place is in accordance with Customer plans and specifications. Ensure that uniformly high standards of quality are established and maintained throughout the project.
• Maintain accurate documentation of inspections and quality reviews, ensuring follow up inspections for all non-compliant work.

Relationships

• Develop and maintain the trust of customer representatives.

• Responsible to report any safety incidents, near misses, injuries, and quality issues to the Operations Manager, Site or Regional HSE representative. Participate in the incident investigations and is accountable to execute action items.
• When required, serve as the senior safety representative on site.
• Perform safety observations and ensure correction of hazardous conditions.
• Assist in development of project specific safety plans.
• Ensure all environmental obligations required by contract and regulatory agencies are fulfilled.

Qualifications

Education

• Four year degree in a technical field of study. Will consider Associates degree in technical field and minimum 10 years of maintenance contract management experience.
• CMRT required; will be expected to achieve CMRP certification within 1 year of assignment.

Experience

• Minimum of 10 years in a Site Manager, Superintendent, or Project Coordinator role in maintenance operations.
• Experience in managing nested small cap reimbursable operations is preferred.
• General competency in maintenance operations, specific management capability in at least three of the following areas: civil, structural steel, fixed equipment, piping, I&E, soft craft, bulk loading, etc. This would include a good knowledge of craft skillsets, work planning, estimating, scheduling and work execution.

Technical Skills

• Communication – ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point).

Job Description

Hoffman Construction is seeking a Quality Manager. This individual will be an integral member of the on-site Quality Department, providing essential support throughout the lifecycle of a hyper-scaled data center construction project. Reporting to the High-Tech Program Quality Manager, the role will work closely with site leadership and cross-functional teams to manage day-to-day site activities, verify compliance with contract documents, and uphold safety, quality standards and design intent. The Quality Manager plays a critical leadership role, directing trade partners, supervisors, and field staff across multiple scopes in a complex mission-critical environment. The position requires experience in managing high-volume structural, CSA, and MEP scopes in parallel with the ability to anticipate challenges and proactively resolve coordination issues in the field. This position will be fully at the project site near Amarillo, TX.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Oversee and coordinate all field construction activities, including civil, structural, architectural and MEP trades, collaborating closely with project engineers, construction managers, building superintendents and other field superintendents.
• Manage the Quality Team to ensure high performance, alignment with project goals, and seamless integration with overall construction operations.
• Direct the daily work of multiple QA/QC Programs.
• Drive execution of reviewing and approval trade contractor QA/QC Programs to ensure alignment with general contractor and client program requirements.
• Monitor and review design documents to identify constructability errors or omissions.
• Lead work groups to meet quality standards of Hoffman Construction and the project.
• Ensure strict adherence to project-specific safety protocols and participate in safety audits and incident investigations.
• Coach site staff in conducting inspections and convey Hoffman Quality standards of practice to site teams.
• Investigate, understand, and convey technical product properties and how they interact.
• Must be able to interpret and implement proper installations in compliance with all local authority permitting, codes, and site specifications.
• Facilitate contractor activity ensuring performance to all contractual agreements.
• Assist with management project staffing.
• Provide clear communication, verbally, written, and electronically.
• Collaborate closely with clients, architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors.

Salary Range $110,000.00 - $140,000.00

Qualifications

Professional Experience and Education

• Minimum 5 years’ construction and/or building design experience in one or more of the following categories preferred: on-site construction management; structural, mechanical, electrical, or architectural design (no license required).
• Proven experience managing concurrent scopes involving structural steel, large-scaled MEP systems, generator yards, duct banks, and underground and overhead utilities is preferred.
• OSHA 30 Certification.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor of science in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, structural engineering, construction management or equivalent degree and/or equivalent craft level work experience.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

• Standing/Walking/Sitting: Workday is a combination of being stationary and moving about the work location.
• Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active construction sites.
• Must be able to climb stairs, to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs and inspect confined spaces or underground spaces.
• Hands/Arms: Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Frequently operates machinery and will use hands/fingers and legs to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect and position materials.
• Sight: Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus in an outdoor environment. Must be able to safely operate a vehicle with a valid driver's license. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; reading printed and digital documents.
• Hearing:Must be able to work in proximity to loud equipment more than 75% of the time. Must be able to wear hearing protection, as necessary. Often required to communicate with customers and coworkers in an office setting and on the job site.
• Speech:Abilityto communicate laws, ordinances, plans, regulations, protocols, directives, and standard operating procedures related to project scope in English.
• Lift/Carry: Must have the ability to lift or manipulate fifty pounds to a height of three feet and carry or push it 50-100 feet.
• Bending/Twisting: Frequent. 
• Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: Must be able to regularly position self in a kneeling, crouching or crawling position for the purpose of examining project work.
• Must be able to physically access all areas and levels of construction site for work progress review.
• Work schedule must be flexible to allow extended hours or off-shift work to accommodate changing construction schedule and sequences.
• Must use independent judgment, and organizational and critical thinking skills to determine best method to accomplish desired results.
