Safety Technician
Bilfinger Industrial Services, Inc., known as a leading provider of complex, comprehensive industrial services, is seeking a Safety Technician at our Mehoopany, PA site location. The Safety Technician monitors safety during all construction activities at the project site while supporting and taking direction from the Safety Manager, Site Leader, and/or Superintendent.
Responsibilities
- Assist in Managing all activities of the Safety and First Aid Department.
- Assist in the responsibility for carrying out the safety program for construction at the P&G site.
- Orientates and trains all employees to recognize, avoid, and prevent accidents.
- Participate in weekly supervisory safety meetings and distribute safety information for craft toolbox meetings. Check for effectiveness.
- Assist in maintaining incident and accident records.
- Acquaint all personnel with the emergency, fire, and firstâaid procedures.
- Assist in recording and reporting BOS activities.
- Render firstâaid to any injured or accident victim.
- Conduct surveys of Bilfinger Industrial Services and subcontractor operations to ensure compliance with project safety program, OSHA, and State safety standards and regulations. Identify safety violations and initiate corrective action by responsible supervision.
- Enforce Bilfinger Industrial Services, P&G, and OSHA safety rules and regulations while coaching employees and building a positive safety culture.
- Manage and coordinate craft training programs related to safety and motivation.
- Initiate and monitor job safety procedures and programs as the work may dictate.
- Assist in administering safety recognition program.
- Review, provide feedback and sign off on daily PJHAâs.
- Spend time with new contractors to the site to help get them acclimated to the site expectations for working on site.
- Help work toward a common goal and promote interaction between all team members.
Requirements
- The position is an entry level position with the ideal candidate having school or work experience in the safety or construction industry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management and organizational skills are required

Project Overview:
Bechtel National, Inc. (BNI), Bechtelâs government services business, is one of the top providers to departments and agencies of the U.S. and British governments. This position will provide support to the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) located at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
UPF is a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar project and will be a first-of-its-kind complex for enriched uranium operations in support of Y-12 missions. UPF is one of the Department of Energyâs largest investments in Tennessee since the Manhattan Project and one of the National Nuclear Security Administrationâs largest construction projects. When complete, UPF will: replace a 70-year-old facility with modern buildings, reduce operational costs and energy consumption, improve worker safety, and provide enriched uranium capabilities well into the future.

Job Summary:
In this role, you will operate and maintain plant equipment and systems according to process design requirements. Major Responsibilities:
- Operates equipment and systems in accordance with the process design requirements
- Operates equipment and system startup effort as required
- Prepares work orders for servicing and repairs and submits to Lead Operator/Maintenance personnel
- Prepares systems for minor maintenance
- Coordinates frequent monitoring of both plants, including logging and analysis of data collected to ensure that both units are operating as designed
- Completes shift reports
- Prepares inventory reports and orders chemicals when needed
- Assists with and may be responsible for conducting routine sampling and analytical work.

- Participates in emergency response activities per plant programs and training (fire, medical, environmental)
Education and Experience Requirements:

The work hours will require to work a rotating shift for this position.

Job Summary:
In this role, you will operate and maintain plant equipment and systems according to process design requirements. You will generate operating, inventory, and shift reports and will monitor, identify, test, analyze, evaluate, and resolve equipment or supply issues. Your frequent monitoring and data analysis will ensure equipment and systems are successfully and continuously operating as designed.#LI-EH1
Major Responsibilities:
- Operates equipment and systems in accordance with the process design requirements
- Operates equipment and system startup effort as required
- Prepares work orders for servicing and repairs and submits to Lead Operator/Maintenance personnel
- Prepares systems for minor maintenance
- Coordinates frequent monitoring of both plants, including logging and analysis of data collected to ensure that both units are operating as designed
- Completes shift reports
- Prepares inventory reports and orders chemicals when needed
- Assists with and may be responsible for conducting routine sampling and analytical work.
- Identifies equipment problems and initiates equipment repair documentation
- Participates in emergency response activities per plant programs and training (fire, medical, environmental)
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Previous experience as an Operational Supervisor
- Recent plant Operations/Management experience
- Experience in using Work Control Software
- Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs
- Extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces.

Maintain safety records and site documentation. Oversee, communicate, and administer the Branch or Jobsite Safety Incentive Program Attend at least one daily Tool Box Meeting per day and one documented safety inspection per week. Ensure that all foremen conduct at least one document safety inspection per month. Facilitate the formation and operation of an employee safety committee on jobsites with more than 25 employees.
