POSITION SUMMARY:

In the Project Manager II role, you are responsible for contributing to the overall safety, direction, completion, and financial outcome of construction projects from initial budget through project closeout.

The Project Manager IIs are expected to work with team members in all levels of Project Management and Field Supervision to establish operational priorities and ensure a quality project. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Management

• Ensure customer satisfaction by identifying and exceeding client needs
• Estimate, value engineer, and develop project budgets
• Facilitate the subcontractor bid process to include processing, distribution, and tracking of all project bidding documentation
• Ability to utilize software programs and templates to process, distribute, and track all project documentation
• Negotiate subcontractor and material buyout; develop and negotiate subcontracts
• Plan and schedule projects
• Manage jobs in progress including subcontractor coordination, conflict resolution, documentation, and ensuring quality and safety on every job
• Manage project costs through the ongoing evaluation of labor, material, and equipment; continue to forecast and analyze construction costs, exposures, and profits through project completion
• Perform project closeout
• Capable of managing single projects in the $5 Million to $20 Million range or multiple small projects in various stages of construction.
• Build a conceptual schedule and budget

• Ability to value engineer
• Present clearly and professionally to owners during the bidding process
• Manage more complex, increasingly difficult, and larger projects
• Collaborate with Field Supervision to ensure smooth project execution

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• B.S. in Construction, Engineering, or related area of study is preferred
• 9+ years' experience
• Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across all areas of the organization
• Warehouse, Healthcare, Mission Critical, K-12, and Higher Education construction experience is desired
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Quality champion for a project or multiple projects, responsible for the quality management duties including quality of the works, material management, documentation and close-out to ensure safe, quality, efficient, effective and profitable project execution.

• Coaches, mentors and trains entire project staff in quality management principles, procedures and project-specific requirements. Serves as mentor and coach to Quality staff to advance their careers at Walsh and improve retention.

• Responsible for leading and managing quality processes such as work planning, pre-activity meetings, material management, Quality Incident Reports, Lesson Sharing and follow-up inspections.

• Establishes, monitors and reports on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), as well as QIRs for project teams to ensure continuous improvement. Analyzes project KPIs, evaluates trends and provides improvement strategies.

• Routinely audits project quality programs seeking continuous improvement utilizing Project QC Evaluation and other auditing tools. Provides feedback to Operations and Quality Management of major QIRs, project team relationships, owner/client perceptions, and overall quality management recurring non-conformances.

• Directs inspection, testing and documentation of the works. Schedules inspection and testing with coordination between operations, consultants, material laboratories and Client.

• Creates and implements project specific inspection and test plans, quality control plans and other procedures as necessary. Additionally, supports with material specification review such as concrete mix design, thermal control and other quality specialized elements.

• Responsible for risk management strategy that helps projects improve profitability by reducing risk and improving efficiency via process management and risk mitigation.

• Maintains relationships with owners, Clients, subcontractors, design partners and stakeholders to support project partnering and issue resolution.

• Supports Site Safety to ensure that projects are completed in accordance with established safety procedures, requirements and goals.

• Monitors project quality costs including resources while working to better as-bid budgets. Provides feedback to optimize project billing returns, risk reporting and testing accuracy, while protecting Walsh from claim exposure. Monitors and reports rework costs via QIR system.

QUALIFICATIONS

• AEC Bachelor’s degree is preferred or equivalent related field experience with International Code Counsel, NICET, etc. Current certification required

• USACE/NAVFAC/NRC Construction Quality Management certification preferred but not required

• Industry certifications for testing and inspection as required to review and certify that the test, inspection, and procedures satisfy requirements

• Limited travel for projects as necessary

• Level 1 QCM

• Minimum 7 years of AEC experience, with 3 years preferred in a Quality role

• Good communication skills, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, and ability to prioritize, organize and manage time

• Knowledge of standards, specifications and publications of job related duties

The Safety Manager will work with and through management to ensure the safety of personnel, and compliance with safety and environment procedures of local, state, and federal regulations including OSHA, MSHA, and DOT while assisting in the safe achievement of profitability/productivity requirements. • Verify Job Hazard Analysis' (JHA's) and any required work permits (hot work, confined space entry, lockout/tagout, etc.) are completed and the hazards have been removed or mitigated.
• Will hold daily safety meetings with all employees when at the various locations. A weekly summary log of those meetings is to be kept and filed along with the behavioral observations.
• Conduct audits to verify that employees are educated in identifying all hazards related to their task and within their environment. Verifying that JHA's are completed (correctly) and that any identified hazards have been eliminated or controlled.
• Maintains safety files, records, and reports.
• Ensures that all incidents, near misses, safety infractions/violations, concerns, etc. are reported to the Corporate Office and investigated in a timely manner.
• Perform safety hazard assessments, inspections, and surveys. Prepare written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventative measures where indicated and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented. (10 audits per week required).
• Conduct observation audits to help improve safe work practices, training, equipment selection, tools, etc.
• Recognize and perform training in areas of deficiency.
• Coach personnel to identify hazards and implement corrective measures through completion of hazard assessments, observations, and standard operating procedures.
• Report all near misses and incidents to the Safety Director as soon as possible.

• Attend weekly Supervisor safety training meetings

Scaffold Builder - Leadman

This person will supervise in the construction, assembly, maintenance, and dismantlingoftubular scaffolding or other temporary structures.Other duties may be assigned.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work at heights with no fear.
• Determines type of scaffold needed and how to properly instruct on how to install.
• Oversight of transport tubular scaffold or other structural material and erects the scaffold as instructed by the scaffold builder.
• Hoists scaffolding materials upward in order to erect temporary structure.
• Properly secures and levels locking sections of scaffolding material.
• Properly secures scaffold to the permanent structure for added stability.
• Adheres to all OSHA, site specific and Austin Industrial requirements for the erecting and navigation of the scaffolding.
• Supervises thedismantlingof scaffolding when it has been properly communicated to do so.
• Inspects and properly stows scaffolding material after dismantling.
• Performs final inspection of completed scaffolding.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Overview:

Candidate will be required to assemble and dismantle tubular and system scaffolding or other temporary structures. Candidate will be responsible for leading scaffold building crew in industrial environments. Conduct daily scaffold inspections and scaffold audits. Responsible for cleaning and preparing sites, including removing debris and loading/unloading scaffolding material. Candidate must successfully pass Competent Person Scaffold training/testing. Candidate is required to complete OSHA 30.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Promotes Safety workplace by participating in safety training, identifying job hazards, wearing correct ppe, and observing for oneself and others
• Has knowledge in various types of scaffold builds such as independent access scaffolds, birdcage, hanging, truss out, and tower
• Has capability to safely build all types of scaffold including hanging suspended scaffolding
• Ability to perform work at above ground elevations while wearing a harness and other PPE
• Ability to lay out work and execute build
• Ensures builds are within OSHA standards
• Ensures correct material for build is available
• Detail oriented to spot potentially dangerous conditions
• Strong math skills related to basic, algebra, and geometry for calculating measurement
• Work as general labor when needed
• Additional duties as assigned
