Position Overview:

The Scaffold and Insulation laborer will install, repair, and/or remove insulation on piping, ductwork, industrial equipment, and other surfaces. Scaffold Builder - Leadman

This person will supervise in the construction, assembly, maintenance, and dismantlingoftubular scaffolding or other temporary structures.Other duties may be assigned.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work at heights with no fear.
• Determines type of scaffold needed and how to properly instruct on how to install.
• Oversight of transport tubular scaffold or other structural material and erects the scaffold as instructed by the scaffold builder.
• Hoists scaffolding materials upward in order to erect temporary structure.
• Properly secures and levels locking sections of scaffolding material.
• Properly secures scaffold to the permanent structure for added stability.
• Adheres to all OSHA, site specific and Austin Industrial requirements for the erecting and navigation of the scaffolding.
• Supervises thedismantlingof scaffolding when it has been properly communicated to do so.

Project Overview:

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). The Senior Superintendent provides overall direction on projects, and develops and maintains strong working relationships with the owners and architects throughout the project lifecycle. This individual evaluates project performance, site conditions, safety and quality standards, compliance with scope, and effective management of trade partners. This individual is also responsible for ensuring that constructability reviews, logistics plans and baseline schedules achieve project turnover requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee, manage, and document all day-to-day job site activities including OSHA safety compliance
• Direct field personnel according to the project plan and Suffolk supervisory principles
• Communicate issues, events, performance, and progress daily to the Project Manager
• Report any problems promptly to the Project Manager to facilitate the most cost-effective solutions
• Establish effective working relationships with Clients, Suffolk team members, subcontractors, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction. On union projects, maintain effective working relationships with trade union business agents and managers

• Project Start-Up/Turnover Meeting:
  • Identify pre-mobilization activities in conjunction with the Project Executive, General Superintendent, and the Project Manager
  • Develop start-up schedule with Project Manager and send it to the Project Executive and General Superintendent for review

• Scheduling:
  • Assist in formulating and implementing construction schedules in the field
  • Establish and implement the Project Baseline Schedule based on the project contracts and subcontractor input, considering any elements that might impact the schedule
  • Maintain the schedule and ensure that work performed is consistent with the contract and will meet or exceed client expectations
  • Update Project Schedule monthly
  • Provide progress report with the six-week look ahead of schedule to the Project Manager and the field staff
  • Lead Pull Planning meetings and 6 week make ready plan meeting in conjunction with the Project Manager

• Safety:
  • Ensure that all subcontractors participate in a safety pre-construction meeting prior to starting work on the project
  • Ensure that all subcontractors have a full set of MSD sheets on the project, as well as their site specific safety plan and current insurance certificate or OCIP/CCIP enrollment ID
  • Review the project daily to ensure that all activities are being performed in accordance with all OSHA and governing requirements and the project site specific safety plan

• Quality Management:
  • Ensure that all pertinent benchmarks for the project are established and inserted into the baseline schedule
  • Ensure that all appropriate individuals become members of the Q-Team
  • Ensure that all 1st delivery inspections and Benchmark inspections occur per the baseline schedule so as not to impact the progression of the subsequent work
  • Ensure that the inspections are approved, documented and communicated to the project team

• Subcontractor and Site Management throughout the Project:
  • Manage site pre-construction including pre-construction survey, job site utilization and staging plans
  • Mobilize the field office and maintains the job site to Suffolk standards
  • Organize documentation of the job site for easy access and review
  • Manage subcontractor performance to quality and ethical standards
  • Work with PM to identify and resolve personnel issues and construction process revisions
  • Manage all phases of the construction process including documenting and reporting site activities and progress, manage excavations and assist with Job Site Utilization Plan

• Meeting Management:
  • Attend project turnover, mobilization, and project coordination meetings
  • Attend/chair safety pre-construction meetings
  • Attend/chair weekly foreman and safety meetings
  • Attend/chair monthly schedule review meetings
  • Attend/chair Pull Plan Meetings and 6 Week Make Ready Plan Meetings
  • Attend closeout meetings
  • Attend owner meetings
  • Attend/chair subcontractor meetings and any others necessary to monitor and manage the project

• Administrative Management:
  • Complete and implement construction office checklists including emergency phone lists
  • Complete daily reports and maintains logs of key activities, files and shop drawings
  • Manage the quality and condition of all material deliveries
  • Maintain required safety reporting and all other required files to Suffolk standards
  • Insure that as-built working drawings are maintained as well as the current drawing log and revision log, communicating this to the subcontractors

• Project Closeout:
  • Manage subcontractor closeout, transfer of utilities, owner training, work list and punch list

• Training:
  • Recognize the importance of participating in training program by contributing both in class and as a SME

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in applicable discipline and experience relative to project size/scope
• 8 to 12 years of experience related construction fields
• Each project has specific characteristics regarding size, complexity, sector, etc. which dictate the precise years of experience and industry knowledge necessary for success, above and beyond generic construction knowledge and experience

The Role:

The Digital Engineering Group promotes a holistic approach to design and construction model-based services and technologies. The group defines the company strategy around the use of BIMs, data integration across models and departments, and cultural change across project teams to realize significant risk reduction on construction cost and schedule.

Leveraging the design, engineering, and construction knowledge of Suffolk and Suffolk Design, the Digital Engineering Team is charged with executing Virtual Design & Construction, Plan + Control, and creating innovative solutions in tech and process to ensure Suffolk is the best contractor in every region it operates.

Responsibilities

• Manage the successful delivery of Digital Engineering, Virtual Design & Construction, and Plan + Control for Suffolk’s Las Vegas office.
• Develop BIM Execution Plans and Digital Engineering strategies that achieve/exceed Suffolk and our clients’ goals.
• Develop scopes of work, schedules, and budgets for Digital Engineering services for projects and pursuits.
• Develop 3D, 4D, 5D, 6D, & 7D models to support pursuits, preconstruction, construction, and handover phases.
• Manage DE/VDC/P+C on multiple large and complex projects simultaneously. Drive the coordination process hard, while understanding competing interests, creating a balanced outcome for all stakeholders.
• Ensure successful project team experiences with all approved 3rd party vendors.
• Collect, track, and report project data and KPIs; implements processes for continual improvement.
• Create reports and presentations on analytical findings for delivery to senior management.
• Provide training and support of software and tools to project teams.
• Proactively develop and maintain relationships with new and existing project teams.
• Manage a growing team focused on customer (project teams) and client success and satisfaction. Responsible for excellence in delivery every time.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in an accredited industry related curriculum.
• Minimum 6+ years of VDC related design and/or construction experience with demonstrated progression of technical knowledge and responsibilities.
• Previous experience in aviation construction is a must.
• Proven success leading VDC on multiple large and complex projects simultaneously. Experience with complex projects and different building types required.
• Substantial understanding of general construction techniques and systems. Ability to identify coordination issues, propose solutions, and drive teams towards solutions.
• Advanced capability in 3D parametric modeling software and model coordination software. Ability to produce quantity takeoff extraction, clash detection, creation of custom Revit families, 4D simulations integrating construction schedule, and rendering high quality images of models.
• Proven capability with mentoring and training; experience managing direct reports preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication; skilled in teaching, training, and presentations.

Compensation Information

The expected salary range for this position (Senior Manager, Digital Engineering) in Las Vegas, NV is between $113,000 and $158,000 USD. This represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Suffolk’s total compensation package. Actual salaries may be based on several factors including, but not limited to, skill set, experience, education and other qualifications. Suffolk offers a comprehensive benefits package as part of its overall compensation strategy. Salary ranges may differ by geography and are reviewed regularly to reflect market trends.

SAFETY MANAGER

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related field from an accredited curriculum is preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of related experience in industrial construction projects, including 4+ years’ experience managing small to mid-cap sized industrial construction projects.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, video chat and software systems.  Position will be based on an on-site office on construction sites and industrial facilities requiring mobility (on ground and at heights) and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited too: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and work boots

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides leadership and oversight of project plan, budget, schedule during the bidding/negotiation phase. Ensures proposal department activities are in accordance with Deal Architecture Process and can participate as a Deal Team Member.

• Manages and is responsible for the Project Execution Planning & AWP Processes during the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning phases of a project.

• Provides support, as needed, to the Project Manager/Director. Provides guidance/direction to the Engineering Manager, Procurement Manager, Construction Manager, Project Controls Manager and Commissioning Manager.

• Ensures contract, JV Agreement, schedule, cost, change management and progress are being reported accurately and timely by their respective departments.

• Analyzes project schedule, progress, cost reports and develops mitigation plans to manage the work. Manages customer communication regarding status of work plans and mitigations.

• Leads regular reporting to Projects Group management and to the Client/Owner of performance and progress related to Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning.
