Position Summary
The Lead Estimator plays a critical role in the pre-construction process by developing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for electrical projects. This position analyzes project documents, evaluates resource and cost requirements, and develops estimating strategies that support successful project planning and execution. The role also provides leadership, mentorship, and guidance to estimators while fostering collaboration across project teams and stakeholders.
What You'll Do
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Bid Strategy
- Prepare complete quantity take-offs, material pricing, labor cost calculations, equipment estimates, and supporting statistical data for bid development.
- Review, analyze, and interpret project plans, specifications, and bid documents to accurately define project scope and requirements.
- Perform both on-screen and off-screen take-offs.
- Develop and execute estimating approaches and bid strategies using independent judgment and industry expertise.
- Prepare and coordinate all proposal deliverables, including bid forms, labor sheets, and pre-qualification documents.
- Conduct due diligence and evaluate project risks during the estimating process.
- Maintain the highest standards of integrity and ethics in all interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
Project Coordination & Stakeholder Communication
- Communicate information, challenges, and recommendations clearly, professionally, and effectively.
- Provide clarification and guidance to support alignment and understanding among project stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, project managers, engineers, and other business partners.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support successful project outcomes.
Process Management & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and current project plans, specifications, correspondence, quantity take-offs, pricing data, and estimating records.
- Manage estimating documentation related to projects, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Maintain CRM opportunities and project status information accurately and consistently.
- Adhere to established policies, procedures, regulations, and compliance requirements.
Project & Organizational Leadership
- Manage proposals from initial development through final submission.

The majority of the time you will work in a typical office environment. Occasionally, you may travel to a construction job site. Responsibilities:

About this Role
The Manager of Technical Accounting and Strategic Projects plays an integral role in advising Quanta's senior management and operating units on complex technical accounting matters, as well as supporting or representing the accounting function in strategic projects and transactions.
This person will serve as a key technical accounting advisor and must have strong working knowledge of revenue recognition for construction contractors, joint venture accounting and consolidation analyses, leasing, business combinations, manufacturing accounting, and derivatives. The position also supports enterprise-wide strategic projects and initiatives.
This position will develop and maintain close working relationships across the organization, including with senior management, financial planning and analysis, operating unit finance departments, corporate accounting, treasury, tax, legal, and the corporate development team.
What You'll Do
- Technical accounting advisor supporting the Company with the practical application of complex accounting matters, primarily in revenue recognition, joint venture accounting and consolidation, and business combinations.
- Evaluate various complex transactions and contracts against US GAAP and recommend alternative structures that meet business and financial objectives while complying with accounting standards and regulations.
- Partner with other departments to implement new accounting standards, including updating the related processes and internal controls.
- Prepare accounting memoranda documenting the Company's application of accounting principles to specific transactions or events.
- Monitor standard-setters for new and emerging accounting guidance, analyze the impact on the Company, and develop policy to support adoption and implementation.
- Support enterprise-wide strategic projects, transactions, and initiatives, including corporate finance programs, mergers and acquisitions, integration of acquired businesses, and supply chain strategies.
- Develop and maintain close working relationships across the organization, including with senior management, financial planning and analysis, operating unit finance departments, corporate accounting, treasury, tax, legal, and the corporate development team.
- Maintain strong relationships with external auditors and advisors, consult with them on significant transactions, and document the transactions and accounting conclusions.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting or business administration.
- 6 to 10 years of combined public accounting and relevant industry experience in technical accounting.
- "Big Four" public accounting experience, or a comparable technical accounting role at a public company.
- Prior experience supporting the technical accounting or financial reporting function of a large accelerated SEC filer.
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting, and Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements.
- Experience with revenue recognition, consolidation analysis, technical accounting research, and drafting technical accounting memoranda.

What you will be doing
- Meets daily with project crews to review production schedule and confirm all materials, equipment and resources are readily available for production to continue on schedule and within budget.
- Collects, coordinates and analyzes shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data through the duration of the project to ensure quality and compliance.
- Provides technical input for project work plan and scheduling. Identifying risk elements of production, materials, equipment or processes that could negatively impact the budget or schedule.
- Evaluates daily production, schedule and budget projections to accurately track project performance. Documents daily activities in Company approved methods and technologies.
- Remits accurate project quantity input and controls using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported. Manages cost coding with Company finance and accounting teams regarding employee time, materials, equipment and subcontractor needs.
- Reviews and approves daily timecards for all Company construction crews. Works with Office Manager, payroll and job construction supervisors to resolve timecard inquiries, as needed.
- Reviews project specifications for quality assurance at the beginning of work, during the project work and after work completes. Initiates and manages appropriate certificates, inspections and other documentation regarding construction production on the project site.
- Works with construction crews and engineering leaders to plan field layout on the project site, ensuring appropriate utility and commercial lines are marked before production begins. Initiates and manages any permits needed before work can begin.
- Assists the development of design drawings and provides technical input, as needed.
- Coordinates subcontractor work methods, schedule and crews as needed.
