Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. Once complete, the mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other facility in the United States by far â enough to power 1 million electric vehicles per year.
As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel is responsible for managing and integrating the efforts of a team contractors engineering and building the facility. We are also managing procurement of about $1 Billion in goods and services.Earthworks began in 2023, and design and procurement of long-lead equipment is underway.
The project is located in the high desert and wide-open spaces of north-central Nevada about 25 miles from the Oregon border, 1 hour northwest of Winnemucca, Nevada and 3 hours northeast of Reno.
Planned with sustainability and the environment in mind, the facility will use its excess process heat to generate electricity and will recycle process water up to seven times. Once the second phase of the project is complete, Thacker Pass will produce more than 16 times the current U.S. output of lithium.

The position requires overtime on a weekly basis. The timekeeping team works when the craft professionals work. Ability to work many Saturdays, occasional Sundays and some holidays required. Coverage of swing shift or night shift may also be required to fill in for colleagues assigned to those shifts.

· 5 - 10 years of experience working in the Industrial Construction or Maintenance industry as a craft worker. (Piping or millwright related)
· Strong communications skills, specifically in reading/writing as it relates to Estimating.
Physical Requirements:
Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, use of arm/hand steadiness, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, multi limb coordination, oral expression, and comprehension. May be required to lift, carry and move objects safely. Must be able to pass a Physical Health Assessment based on an Occupational Review of physical actions required to perform the work. Must be able to access any part of the plant or job site which may include climbing at heights, working in confined spaces, and working in exposed weather conditions. The candidate/employee must meet all standards to perform the previously mentioned actions to access the required area. Must be able to sit, squat, stand, & kneel for long periods of time.
Work Environment:
Will work in a general office environment. Capable of operating and functioning in a fast-paced work environment. Must possess a vision (corrected or uncorrected) that allows for clear visibility from 20 inches or less. While traveling, employee will work in multiple environments including an office, warehouse and in a trailer or building on construction sites. On construction sites noise levels will be moderate to high. Job site will contain light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools, people standing, walking, sitting, signaling and talking, bells whistles and alarms. Weather conditions ranging from warm/hot â cool/cold and occasional rain. May be required to work in close, confined spaces or in different elevations for a long period of time. Noise levels will be moderate to high.

Position Duties:
· Competently performs all aspects of developing a preliminary or definitive estimate for pipe fabrication and installation utilizing company owned software/spreadsheets.
· Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
· Prepare detailed material take-offs, perform historical trend analysis and validate bills of quantities.
· Recommends and incorporates labor production and material cost decisions into the estimate.
· Review estimates for accuracy and inclusion of all deliverables.
· Revises estimates when scope of project changes or other new information becomes available.
· Participate in cost/pricing reviews with executive leadership as required.
· Uses various systems and software, including In-Eight estimate and various Microsoft Products to analyze data and prepare estimate recommendations.
· Attend bid meetings and site visits to derive a scope of work, deliverables, etc. as required.
· Performs other responsible duties as required to support new project development and support of ongoing jobs.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
