Job Summary:
In this role, you will plan, develop, coordinate and review plant design and piping work on large projects having specialized requirements. You will optimize facility layout based on diagrams, client needs, current technology, and operational and maintenance requirements. Your technical input will ensure configuration compliance, procurement requirements are met, and complex issues are resolved. "This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Major Responsibilities:
· Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews plant design and piping engineering work on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit
· Develops conceptual designs for plant design and piping projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements
· Examines and analyzes pipe configurations for ANSI/ASME code compliance. Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data
· Optimizes facility layout based on piping and instrument diagrams, client requirements, currenttechnology, and operational and maintenance requirements
· Provides the technical input to meet procurement requirements
· Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting
· Reviews and approves key design documents, supplier drawings and data, materialspecifications, drawings, and change orders, for the project to which assigned
· Mentors plant design and piping personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development. Provides input to and participates in special technical educational and training programs as directed
· Examines and analyzes pipe configurations for ANSI/ASME code compliance
· Optimizes facility layout based on piping and instrument diagrams, client requirements, currenttechnology, and operational and maintenance requirements
Education and Experience Requirements:
· Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
· Must be authorized to live and work in the US without sponsorship.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
⢠· Prior working experience in Piping Material Specification software (Smart Plant Reference Data SRD) on a medium or major sized project in an engineering discipline.
· Understands the application of Engineering Department Procedures, relevant Bechtel design guides. Broad knowledge of the application of engineering to plant constructability as applied to construction methods and materials.
· Extensive knowledge of applicable industry / regulatory codes and standards, i.e., ASME, API, AWWA, ASTM and MSS and design and/or layout criteria.
· xtensive knowledge of precedents in the discipline and of principles and practices of related disciplines.
· Skilled in oral and written communication.
· Willingness to travel on business trips in support of projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Prior work experience and responsibility for the supervision on a medium or major size project in engineering management at Bechtel.
· Prior experience working on a large industrial manufacturing facility (semiconductor, fabs or data centers).
· Experience developing, managing, and maintaining BIM piping FabParts with defined LOD specifications (LOD 100-500) for the engineering discipline of Plant Design and Piping

Functional Areas of Responsibility
- Review and ultimate accountability for all preconstruction efforts that are produced by the Southeast division.
- Manage the assignments of all individuals to effectively and efficiently deliver superior responses to clients.
- Coordinate the involvement of estimators, schedulers, project managers, superintendents, MEP managers, BIM managers, LEED accredited professionals, and other specialized employee-owners during preconstruction to deliver preconstruction services required.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to the preconstruction team that enables a collaborative, positive, responsive environment.
- The Director of Preconstruction is responsible for reviewing all deliverables during the preconstruction process. This includes Austin Commercial deliverables as well as the tracking of the deliverables for the other stakeholders.
- Reviews conceptual and programmatic design documents to determine both the nature and scope of the work to be performed. In order to prepare an accurate conceptual budget, the nature and extent of the scope of work must be identified. The Director of Preconstruction should be able to examine conceptual or programmatic documents and develop a description of the various scopes of work required to complete the project.
- Coordinate with the Preconstruction Manager, Project Manager and, Superintendent to provide Constructability Reviews during all phases of design.
- Coordinate with the Preconstruction Manager, Project Manager, Superintendent, and Scheduler to produce and maintain a detailed preconstruction schedule and a schematic construction schedule.
- Examines and analyzes estimates, schedules, and constructability reviews for accuracy and sufficiency.
- Ensures that the Preconstruction Manager coordinates the Contract review process with Corporate Services and review contracts with regard to compliance with the qualifications in the RFP, fee and general conditions, insurance, bonds and specific references to the scope of the work and that all submittals accurately reflect the project specific nuisances.
- Actively participates in design meetings in support of the Preconstruction Manager with owners and architects during development of the design
- Attend industry events to stay current with the ever-changing trends of the Digital Infrastructure industry
- The Director of Preconstruction participates in all and ensures that all projects hold a Preconstruction hand off meetings led by the Preconstruction Manager and assigned Project Manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in construction management or related degree
- 20+ years’ experience working for a GC on large, commercial construction projects.
- Demonstrated industry experience managing a preconstruction department for a large, commercial construction general contractor.

Project Overview:
Bechtel Infrastructureâs Renewables & Clean Power business line is seeking qualified project controls professionals for forthcoming combined cycle power plant projects planned in multiple locations across the United States including Texas, Wyoming, Ohio, and Indianna. Major Responsibilities:

3 to 11 years of experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Power and/or Renewable Energy sectors.
Experience as a Project Engineer or related project management experience preferred. Otherwise, engineering discipline experience is necessary.
Strong communication and inter-personal skills are required to provide effective intra and inter-discipline coordination on projects, as well as effective communication with clients and vendors.
Must be organized, self-directed, able to prioritize and multi-task, work in a team environment and take direction from others.
Willingness to learn and work on a variety of tasks within multiple industries.
Will be based mainly out of the Hammond, IN office, but willingness to travel and work in office and field environments as required.

Support the Senior Project Manager in planning, organizing, and controlling assigned aspects of a project, including monitoring project schedules and budgets, interface management, evaluating project productivity and quality, and directing the complete technical operations of the project.
Implement assignments and activities delegated from the Senior Project Manager or a Project Director.
Responsible for defining the work scope and prepare overall schedules and budgets on small projects. Update schedules and implement corrections or adjustments when necessary.
Assist in developing cost estimates for additional work or contract modifications.
Coordinate discipline engineering activities for development of engineered deliverables.
Review engineered drawings for consistency with work scope and adequately address input from disciplines.
Assist discipline leads in coordinating engineering and design efforts, activities, and deliverables from overseas HVE office.
Facilitate Zachry Groupâs quality control procedure for deliverable generation, archiving, and distribution/transmittal.
Ensure field trip reports and meeting minutes are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Review reports to ensure consistency with contractual requirements.
Responsible for distributing all correspondence to the appropriate project members.
Ensure that all work hour control is being implemented properly; Engineering Change Notices are being identified and reported to the Senior Project Manager.
Support preparation of interactive planning sessions for scheduling engineering activities.
Review and evaluate staff expenditures and implement corrective actions or adjustments as required to address overall performance efficiencies for the engineering team.
Update, inform and clarify project outcomes, deliverables, potential problems, and project needs.
