Austin Industrial is currently seeking a Millwright to join our staff located at La Porte, TX. They must be able to install, repair, replace, and dismantle the machinery and heavy equipment used in industrial settings. This is accomplished by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Replace defective parts of the machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts.
• Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
• Connect the power unit to machines or steam piping to equipment and test unit to evaluate its mechanical operation.
• Repair and lubricate machines and equipment.
• Assemble and install equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
• Position steel beams to support bedplates of machines and equipment, using blueprints and schematic drawings, to determine work procedures.
• Signal crane operator to lower basic assembly units to bedplate and align unit to centerline.
• Insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts, using hand tools and measuring instruments, to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts.
• Move machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
• Attach moving parts and subassemblies to basic assembly unit, using hand tools and power tools.
• Assemble machines, bolt, weld, rivet, or otherwise fasten them to foundation or other structures, using hand tools and power tools.
• Lay out mounting holes, using measuring instruments, and drill holes with power drill.
• Bolt parts, such as side and deck plates, jaw plates, and journals, to basic assembly unit.
• Level bedplate and establish centerline, using straightedge, levels, and transit.
• Dismantle machines, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
• Shrink-fit bushings, sleeves, rings, liners, gears, and wheels to specified items, using portable gas heating equipment.
• Dismantle machinery and equipment for shipment to the installation site, usually performing installation and maintenance work as part of the team.
• Construct foundation for machines, using hand tools and building materials such as wood, cement, and steel.
• Operate engine lathe to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

A Millwright will install, assemble, dismantle, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair machinery at a combined-cycle power plant They will work on construction of a heat recovery exchange generator (HRSG), Gas and steam turbines, large industrial generators, and other miscellaneous machinery involved with the construction of a Combined-Cycle Power Plant.

Qualification Highlights

· Must have experience with industrial machinery installation, repair and maintenance of Power Generation machines and equipment

· Must know how to read blueprints, schematic drawings and engineering specifications and understand how to read and interpret technical manuals in order to determine work procedures

Position Responsibilities

· Works with industry-specific and high complex precision machines including but not limited to: ball mills, ID fans, lube coil skids, turbines, conveyors, generators, hydraulic systems, pumps, gears, bearings, compressors etc.

Will plan, inspect, verify and document scope of work

· Uses precision leveling and alignment tools in order to measure angles, material thickness and small distances with calipers, squares, micrometers, optical instruments and other tools.

· Will fit bearings, align gears and wheels, attach motors and connect belts according to manufacturer’s blueprints and drawings

· Will dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools

· Assembles and installs equipment such as shafting, conveyors and tram rails

· Assembles machines and bolts, welds, rivets and fastens machinery to foundations or other structures using hand tools and power tools.

· Operates engine lathes, grinders and files.

· May construct foundations for machinery

· Fabricates and installs parts, equipment and machinery by measuring, cutting, drilling and/or welding

· Turns machine parts to dimensional specifications

· Will unload, inspect, move and set equipment into position using cranes, hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks

· Uses rigging and hoisting devices such as chokers, chain falls and come alongs to move equipment / materials into place

· Conducts preventative maintenance such as lubrication and fixing or repairing worn parts.

· Follows direction from supervisor

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Demonstrated industrial construction/maintenance history experience

· Knowledge of hand tools, power tools and layout tools such as lasers, ultrasonic measuring and alignment tools, plumb bobs, cutting torches, welding machines, hydraulic torch wrenches, hydraulic stud tensioners, soldering guns and metal working equipment that includes lathes and grinding machines.

· Knowledge of industrial machinery and equipment

Boilermaker Foreman

The purpose of this job is to provide supervision and coordination of workers (both skilled and unskilled) engaged in various types of construction projects, such as highway structures, clearing right-of-way, pile driving, preparing subgrade, laying road surface, installing curb, installing underground utilities, traffic control, concrete paving of streets and related lime and dirt work, etc. The goals of this position include scheduling work to meet timetables in a safe manner, per the plans and specifications, and to meet estimated cost. Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Planning

• Review contract documents, submittals, shop drawings, and schematics to determine the nature and scope of the work, the materials to be utilized, and manpower requirements (by craft) for each construction phase
• Execute Work Plans for major components of work and monitor adherence to Work Plans
• Execute established procedures for the ordering self-perform materials, supplies, and small tools from approved suppliers. Ensure timely requisition is made for needed materials and equipment.

Cost Performance

• Monitor daily labor costs and production rates for accuracy and conformance with established budgets. Take corrective action to improve productivity when labor costs exceed expected norms.
• Encourage craftsmen to develop innovative methods for increasing efficiency, productivity, and profitability in their particular operation and to provide feedback and coaching on how the work is proceeding
• Execute hourly timecard reporting
• Maintain all equipment assigned to crew and conduct preventive maintenance training for operator(s). Also responsible for various hand tools and the proper storage of all equipment at the end of each day.

Scheduling

• Provide a detailed construction plan for each day and general plan for one week. Manage work to stay within schedule.
• Manage scheduling of all QA/QC inspections of work necessary to obtain owner acceptance of the work.

Quality Management

• Inspect work in progress and ensure that it is performed within the tolerances established. Take corrective action when tolerances and/or overall performance standard are not being maintained.

Relationships

• Ability to manage crew into an effectively coordinated working unit, promoting a motivating atmosphere
• Foster and promote the training and development of subordinates through various on-the-job training opportunities, company-sponsored training programs
• Recommend personnel actions, such as promotions, discharges, disciplinary measures, initiate and suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve goals
• Supervise the work of subcontractors to ensure compliance with plan, specifications, and schedules.

Safety

• Conduct Toolbox and JHA Safety Meetings with employee-owners to instruct them on topics for accident prevention
• Enforce all safety regulations and company policies and is constantly alert to all safety conditions.

Technical

• Investigate alternative work methods and materials to improve efficiency and work quality; works to resolve issues
• Ensure compliance with plans and specifications
• Perform a variety of tasks associated with project completion, including closeout punch lists, demobilization, etc.
• Maintain a detailed and accurate daily report of all activity associated with field construction activities
• Ensure that equipment is being used for its intended purpose in the correct manner
• Interpret company policies to workers and disseminates Equal Employment Opportunity Policy by covering these topics in conjunction with Safety Meetings
• Conduct on-the-job training for qualified personnel and records and reports hours on Foreman’s Daily Control
• Fill out Foreman's Daily Control correctly with employee-owners’ hours, job number, cost codes, quantities, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Carpenters may perform any combination of tasks to assist on the construction site. This position performs a wide variety of duties and tasks that often require them to assist other trades people including laborers.

• Construct, erect, install and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, metal and wallboard using hand tools and power tools.
• Work with and install doors, hardware, trim, cabinetry, ceiling materials and millwork.
• Specific tasks may include building rough wooden structures, such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports and temporary frame shelters according to sketches, blueprints or verbal instructions.
• Examining specifications to determine dimensions of structures and measuring boards, timbers or plywood using various tools.
• Be proficient at sawing boards and plywood panels to required sizes, bracing forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts, and building framework to strengthen, protect or disguise buildings that are undergoing construction.
• Erect scaffolding for buildings and install ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms and gangways, install rough frames and bracing them with boards nailed to framework, install subflooring in building, or weld parts to steel structural members.
• Loading, unloading, and moving materials from within or near the construction site from pallets, skids, trucks, or other locations.
• Driving equipment as needed
• General partition layout
• Partition framing and sheet rock installation
• Rough carpentry work including in-wall blocking
• Finish carpentry including installation of doors, frames, hardware and trim
• Temporary protection including barricades, visqueen, floor protection, etc.

• Ability to lift, squat, and pull up to 100 lbs. with frequency throughout the day
• Selective demolition of non-load bearing walls, ceilings and flooring material and clean up of all demolition debris
• Receive and handle any miscellaneous material deliveries
• Installation and maintenance of safety handrails, covered openings, etc.
• Supervision of subcontractor’s and shift work if directed by Pepper’s Project Foreman or Superintendent
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of 4 years relevant experience in commercial construction preferred.
• OSHA 10 preferred.
• Operator's certificate preferred.
• Detail-oriented, well-organized, and ability to multi-task.
